Marketing Ethics The doubt of whether or not marketing is completely un ethical is thequestion about critics of marketing seem to be focusing their attention on.Ethics propose the basis for deciding whether a particular action is clean-livingly legal or morally bad (Britt 553). But, each individual develops differentopinions, moral standards, and values. So, marketers will deal with similarissues differently because there is no cleanse way to handle any given issue.Marketers face various types of ethical issues in their everyday marketingactivities. Such marketing activities that require marketing managers to engage their moral values ethically are advertising, packaging and labeling,and world-wide marketing.Advertising is the most criticized of all micro-marketing activities(McCarthy 643). What is considered as unfair or deceptive advertising is verydifficult to pinpoint, because times have flipd and continue to change on aday to day basis. What one person may consider unf air or deceptive may not beunfair or deceptive to another person. There are no clear cut guidelines formarketing managers to go by, so they must utilize their own judgement based ontheir own moral standards.
